******JANUARY****** Railroad & Canal Songs
All aboard! The railroad was critical to the development of our region, and the transcontinental railroad ran right through our backyard. Plus, if you've ever taken a hike through our foothills or a day trip through the delta, you know that canals still run throughout the Gold Country. Join Mark and his guitar as we sing along to some the classic Americana of our railroad and canal songs:
I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad, This Train, She’ll be Comin' Round the Mountain, The City of New Orleans, The Wabash Cannonball, Move It on Down the Line, Jay Gould’s Daughter, Train that Carried My Girl from Town, Chatanooga Choo Choo, Orange Blossom Special, The Tragic Tale of Thomas Donnelly, Boatin’ on a Boathead, The Erie Canal,
As a former history teacher and elementary reading specialist, Mark especially enjoys presenting these songs to fifth graders. Each child will receive a mini-songbook including the songs we sing. Note that all lyrics have been suitably edited for this age.
Mark entertains and informs with accompanying videos (including the song lyrics), historical storytelling, and audience participation. Your group will love the interaction, memories, and great music.
Mark performs at venues throughout Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, and Amador counties. Email Mark at firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact information to schedule a memorable performance during January.
