******OCTOBER****** Folk Songs

It's Folk Hootenanny! In the late 1950s and early 1960s, folk music legends like Pete Seeger led local get-togethers known as hootenannies while clubs, such as Gerde's Folk City, dominated the Greenwich Village scene. Old and young gathered to sing along with the American folk tunes steeped in religious, social, economic, and political themes. Recreate those times and sing along with Mark and his guitar to these memorable songs:

Blowin’ in the Wind, If I Had a Hammer, All My Trials, Day-O, Five Hundred Miles, Greenback Dollar, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, King of the Road, Municipal Protest Train Association Song, Rich Man Spiritual, Turn Turn Turn, Tom Dooley, When I Woke up This Mornin’

Mark entertains and informs with accompanying videos (including the song lyrics), historical storytelling, and audience participation. Your group will love the interaction, memories, and great music.

A former history teacher at Oak Ridge High School and an elementary reading specialist, Mark performs at venues throughout Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, and Amador counties. Email Mark at mark@penningtonpublishing.com with your contact information to schedule a memorable performance during October. Mark's initial performance is always free of charge.
