Mark Penningtonis a local author, songwriter, and musician. Mark entertains and informs audiences with themed presentations, featuring the American songbook. Each interactive monthly performance includes historical storytelling, humor, poetry, live music, and audience participation. All G-rated and nothing controversial. Mark dresses in period or monthly-themed costumes to create a festive presentation. Each audience member is greeted and appreciated, whether a fourth-grader or a senior. Social distancing, masking, two vaccines and the booster, of course. Inside or outside performances are fine.
A former history teacher at Oak Ridge High School and an elementary reading specialist, Mark performs at schools, senior centers, the Folsom History Museum, and other venues throughout Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, and Amador counties. Performances last just under an hour. Mark arrives at least 30 minutes early to set up the small sound system and welcome staff and audience. Performance fee is a reasonable $100 for multiple bookings (book ahead for popular holiday times) or $125 for one-time events. Mark sends promotional artwork prior to all bookings.
For fourth and fifth grade performances of the Gold Rush Musical-A Rip Roarin' Review and Songs of the Frontier, Mark caters the teaching/performing time to school schedules, and charges $250 for the two-hour presentation. Purchase orders gladly accepted.
