Teaching Spelling and Vocabulary is a comprehensive curriculum that truly integrates differentiated spelling instruction with standards-based vocabulary development. This five-level (A-E fourth-eighth grade) diagnostically-based series is the perfect choice for both grade-level instruction and in-class remedial instruction. A perfect choice for both Tier 1 and 2 Response to Intervention.
Classroom teachers and resource specialists describe Teaching Spelling and Vocabulary as—
- Comprehensive. This program includes three complete spelling strands: a grade-level spelling patterns program, a remedial curriculum focusing on the kindergarten-third grade sound-spellings, and the eight conventional spelling rules. Each strand is seamlessly integrated with systematic vocabulary development in Greek and Latin morphemes and context clues.
- Flexible. Resources and activities work in the classroom or as a stand-alone intervention program. This is not a canned program; the teacher teaches students according to their diagnostically-determined instructional needs.
- Economical. Full individual teacher license to copy all curriculum resources. Every program component is included in the one price.
- User-friendly. Minimal teacher prep design with simple procedures and instructional activities.
- Research-based. Teaching Spelling and Vocabulary is based upon solid orthographic research. Coupled with explicit, systematic phonics instruction, the encoding activities in this program will help students learn all the literacy skills they need to read and spell at grade level.
