Either assign or let students choose the word parts first; then they draw the word part monsters. Make sure that most of the word parts are used so that the identification activity serves as good practice. Save it for Halloween!

I would like to try the word parts monster activity with my 6 graders but I'm sure on the directions. Do the kids use word parts to draw the monster (like a concrete poem) or do the just draw a monster and then put word parts on the drawn monster>
